Too cute not to share. This young lady made a heart word book so she can practice with her friends. This morning these girls were practicing their heart words in the gym before class. Way to go girls!

We celebrated kindness today. Every student caught doing an act of kindness, received a heart that went into a drawing. We drew two kindness hearts per grade level today. The high school cheerleaders even did a cheer for each student drawn.

Research shows that reading aloud to children is a critical piece to learning. Even at the elementary level, students continue to strengthen their vocabulary, build background knowledge, and nurture a love for reading. Reading aloud to children helps them use their imagination to explore people, places, times and events beyond their own experiences. It also provides a springboard to meaningful discussions about different topics which can further develop a child's critical thinking skills.
